Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) brings boaters a new level of confidence in close quarters and around the docks from simple inboard-powered boats with the release of Cummins Inboard Joystick, a new inboard joystick docking system. Cummins joystick control expertise and a new class of DC thrusters with extended run time capability are combined specifically for use with traditional inboard engines and transmissions. Cummins backs up every component in the inboard joystick system with the same warranty and global service and support network that supports Cummins engines.
In addition to the joystick controller and Cummins traditional electronic throttle and shift, Cummins Inboard Joystick system comes with exclusive Extended Run Thruster technology. This technology has been extensively validated for longer operation than traditional DC thrusters, reducing the historical thermal trip concerns with standard DC thrusters during extended dockside maneuvering.
Cummins also offers Thruster Monitoring, to alert the captain to excessive thruster use. If the thruster is used excessively, the indicator light will blink to inform the operator that he or she may be pushing the thruster into thermal trip, or draining the batteries to an unacceptable level. The indicator lamp and manual thruster buttons on the joystick control pad are designed to give the captain complete control of the boat.
The entire system — engine, throttle and shift, harnessing, thruster and Cummins- supplied thruster tubes — will be serviced and supported by the Cummins network, and backed by a two-year/1,000-hour warranty. Cummins Care marine specialists are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling (615) 871-5101, to help customers find a nearby qualified facility or to assist with repair or service event scheduling.
