The assets of Gekko Sports were recently re-acquired by company founder Mark Overbye, and the tow boats are reportedly back in production. Overbye has teamed with Ebbtide Boats, based in White Bluff, Tenn., to manufacture the new models.
“Ebbtide has been building quality boats for over 40 years and is known the world over as a solid builder with a great reputation. We’re thrilled to be building Gekkos again, and we have fresh line up for 2014 with new Indmar engines, new interiors, towers, dashes, graphics, ballast and more. Our passion for water sports will be very evident in the 2014 collection,” said Overbye.
Four models are planned for 2014, with the boats scheduled to begin shipping within 60 days. Production is starting with Gekko’s 22’ REVO 6.7 V drive and will expand to the 23’ REVO 7.1 V drive followed by the company’s GTR 22 and GTS 20 direct drive models.
Gekko’s 2014 models will feature digital throttle controls, standard speed control with Zero Off option, Fusion stereos with wireless bluetooth connectivity, quality steering systems, a unique tower design and automotive touches that are expected to make the products stand out and represent a superior value being true to Gekko’s culture.
Founded in 1994, Gekko has earned high marks as a first-class performer and has pulled tournaments around the world including championship events. www.gekkosports.com
