With 76 slips, 10 of which are available to transient boaters, Homeport has plenty of room (as long as your boat isn’t more than 120 feet long). While tied up at one of the marina’s three large dock sections, visitors can enjoy the sandy beach or live music next door at LuLu’s restaurant. The popular eatery also offers volleyball, an arcade, a ropes course, water events, a well-stocked bar and a taste of the Caribbean with authentic island fare.
If you happen to be in the area around Mardi Gras, be sure to stop by the marina and join in the festivities. Not only do the people, including marina guests, dress up in costume, but boaters deck out their vessels and throw beads from the water.
Yes, being docked at a marina in a desitnation town has its advantages. Gulf Shores has something for everyone, whether it’s delicious dining or wacky water sports. Venture away from the marina for the day to enjoy fishing, golf, nature trails, museums, ziplining, shopping and more. You can even take a dolphin cruise or visit the nearby Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo.
To reach Homeport Marina by water, boaters on the Tenn-Tom will need to travel about 3 miles down Mobile Bay and enter the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW) just east of Alabama Highway 59 Bridge. The marina’s entry is beside LuLu’s — the pink and yellow building — at GIWW Mile Marker 155.
If you plan to drive a car or truck to the marina, travel south on Alabama Highway 59 toward Gulf Shores. You’ll take the last left before the GIWW bridge and turn at the amusement park.
